why......
Located in a geothermally active area in China, Xianyang and its surrounding area are rich in geothermal energy. The area’s thermal water is considered the best in west China, possibly even in all of China. The high water temperature, high pressure, and richness in minerals, such as radon, sulphur, lithium, strontium, and other microelements make it ideal for physical therapy and healing. In addition to the healing properties that the geothermal water has, it also provides an opportunity for geothermal energy to be utilized, an excellent energy resource for an off-the-grid building. Currently a highly industrialized city, the use of geothermal energy in the Xianyang area would dramatically reduce air pollution and make it a more desireable place for people to come to heal.
Xianyang is also home to the Shaanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Many students, professors, practitioners, and people seeking treatment come to the area to learn, teach, practice, and heal. The establishment of a center for this community of people would create a place for further education, for an open exchange of ideas, and for healing. This community center would ultimately function as a place for recovery and education.
who......
Our community center will serve visiting professors, students, and practitioners who have come to Xianyang to teach, study, and practice at the Shaanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The center will also serve the patients and their families who have come to the area to receive treatment. For patients it will serve as a place to rest and relax post-treatment or, potentially, a place to actually receive the treatment. For the students and professionals it will serve as a place to research, learn, and network.
