Xianyang city is nestled in the central area of Kuan-chung plain, in the center of the Shaanxi Province, a north-central province of the People's Republic of China, on the northern bank of the Wei River. The city is located just to the northwest of present-day Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province. To the west, it adjoins the Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Industries Demonstration Zone. To the north is Jiuzong Mountain, and to the South is Qinling Mountain. There are 8 rivers in Xianyang area. The Wei River, which is one of the branches of the Yellow River, flows to the south of the city, and the Jinghe River also flows across this area. Natural grassland and forests cover much of the surrounding area.
